The Naval Service has detained a Spanish vessel for alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

The Olerama was detained off the Co Kerry coast yesterday by the LE ?rla on suspicion of breaching regulations on net size and was escorted to port in Castletownbere.

The LE ?rla also provided medical assistance to an injured crewman on board another Spanish trawler, the Jesus de Galliana, yesterday.

The man had suffered a serious hand injury and was treated on board the Irish naval vessel before being transferred to hospital in Cork.
