A man in his 40s has died after being stabbed in Tralee, Co Kerry, last night.

The man was found injured in the Mitchell's Crescent area of the town at around 11.30pm and was rushed to Tralee General Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Garda? are treating the incident as murder and the scene of the discovery has been preserved pending technical examination.

A post mortem is also due to be carried out later today.
